We are passionate
about sport.

Penrith Christian School is a member of the Christian Schools Sports Association (CSSA) and Combined Independent Schools (CIS) as well as participating in the Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA). Cross Country, Swimming and Athletics Carnivals are held each year, with opportunities for students to participate at Local, Zone and State levels.

We are passionate about sport and value the benefit it brings to the general wellbeing of our students. We endeavour to provide a rich and varied sports program in conjunction with the structured skill development program offered through Personal Development Health and Physical Education (PDHPE).

Preparatory School to Year 2 students experience Sport through a gross motor development program whilst Years 3 to 11 students participate in weekly organised sport activities which may include Aerobics, Archery, Basketball, Bocce, Bowling, Cheerleading, Chess, Community Service, Cricket, Croquet, Dance, Golf, Gym, Gymnastics, Hockey, Ice Skating, Lacrosse, Lawn Bowls, Musicals, Netball, Newcombe Ball, Oztag, Pool / Snooker, Indoor Rock Climbing, Rugby League, Slider Hockey, Soccer, Softball, Super 8’s Cricket, Swimming, T-Ball, Tennis, Touch Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Volleyball and Walking. Sports options for Years 7-12 change each term and are advertised in the e-PhoCuS e-newsletter prior to the commencement of each term.

The physical environment of our school is well advanced for our size and offers a full sized Oval, Basketball and Netball courts, indoor Auditorium and Cross Country Track. Our excellent facilities and ample space enables us to conduct many sports simultaneously.

Carnivals

Athletics - Years 3 to 6

Primary Athletics Carnival is held at Harold Corr Athletics Field, Herbert Street, Street Cambridge Park. State Athletics Carnival is held at the International Athletics Centre, Homebush.

Athletics - Years 7 to 12

PCS and Zone Athletics Carnivals are held at Harold Corr Athletics Field, Herbert Street, Street Cambridge Park. CSSA State Athletics Carnival is held at the Sydney International Athletics Centre, Homebush. Students also have the opportunity to qualify for NSWCIS Athletics and NSW All Schools.

Swimming - Years 3 to 6

Primary Swimming Carnival is held at Penrith Swimming Centre, Station Street Penrith. State Swimming Carnival is held at Blacktown Leisure Centre, Blacktown. Students also have the opportunity to qualify for National Christian Schools Swimming and CIS Swimming.

Swimming - Years 7 to 12

PCS Swimming Carnivals are held at Penrith Swimming Centre. CSSA State Swimming Carnival is held at Sydney Aquatic Centre, Homebush.

Students also have the opportunity to qualify for National Christian Schools Swimming and NSWCIS Swimming and NSW All Schools.

Cross Country

The PCS Cross Country is held onsite and generally on the last day of Term 1 each year. The top four competitors in each age group from Years 3 to 12 qualify to compete at the CSSA State Cross Country, which is held annually at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, Horsley Park.

Students also have the opportunity to qualify for NSWCIS Cross Country and NSW All Schools.

The first ten runners to finish in each event, who are in CIS member schools, are eligible to participate in the CIS Cross Country held at Eastern Creek.

Years 3 to 6 - PSSA Sport

In Term 1, PCS competes in the local Nepean Zone Sports Competition against the following schools:

  • Nepean Christian School

Sports played during Term 1 include:

  • Tee Ball
  • Softball
  • Newcomb Ball
  • Basketball

During Terms 2 and 3 students participate in the PSSA (Primary Schools Sports Association) Sports Competition.

Sports played during Terms 2 and 3 include: 

  • Netball
  • Soccer
  • AFL
  • Touch Football

Years 7 to 12 Sport

Leisure and more recreational sport options are available for those students who like to participate in a social, non-competitive environment. PCS offers a variety of sports which are cycled through as sport options during the school year. Some of these sports are held offsite and have associated venue costings.

Sport conducted on school premises generally doesn’t attract additional fees; however, sport conducted offsite such as Tennis, Rock Climbing, Skating, Gym, etc., will incur an additional charge to cover bus and entry fee, or any other costs to the school. Sport choices and associated costs will be advertised in our e-newsletter prior to the start of each Sport term. Please discuss Sport choices with your child/children before they make their selection. Additional Sport charges will be included in your monthly invoice at the commencement of each term for the whole term’s charges, irrespective of student attendance and is payable by the parents/guardians.

Please Note: Penrith Christian School reserves the right to exclude students from participating in Sport offsite where there are financial concerns or behavioural issues.

Our students also have several opportunities to trial for various representative teams throughout the year, at a Zone, CSSA State, National Christian Schools (Secondary Basketball and Secondary Swimming only), NSW CIS and NSW All Schools Level.
