Sport

Sport

Sport is an important part of the lives of our students and promotes an active lifestyle, social interaction, and a strong sense of sportsmanship and fair play. Penrith Christian School is a member of the Christian Schools Sports Association (CSSA) and Combined Independent Schools (CIS) as well as participating in the Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA). Cross Country, Swimming and Athletics Carnivals are held each year, with opportunities for students to participate at Local, Zone and State levels.

We are passionate about sport and value the benefit it brings to the general well-being of our students. We endeavour to provide a rich and varied sports program in conjunction with the structured skill development program offered through Personal Development Health and Physical Education (PDHPE).

Preparatory School to Year 2 students experience sport through a gross motor development program whilst Years 3 to 11 students participate in weekly organised sport activities which may include Aerobics, Archery, Basketball, Bocce, Bowling, Cheerleading, Chess, Community Service, Cricket, Croquet, Dance, Golf, Gym, Gymnastics, Hockey, Ice Skating, Lacrosse, Lawn Bowls, Musicals, Netball, Newcombe Ball, Oz Tag, Pool / Snooker, Indoor Rock Climbing, Rugby League, Slider Hockey, Soccer, Softball, Super 8’s Cricket, Swimming, T-Ball, Tennis, Touch Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Volleyball and Walking. Leisure and more recreational sport options are available for those students who like to participate in a social non-competitive environment. PCS offers a variety of sports which are cycled through as sport options during the school year. Some of these sports are held offsite and have associated venue costings.

Sport conducted on school premises generally doesn’t attract additional fees, however sport conducted offsite such as Tennis, Rock Climbing, Skating, Gym, etc., will incur an additional charge to cover bus and entry fee or any other costs to the school. Sport choices and associated costs will be advertised in our newsletter prior to the start of each sport term. Please discuss sport choices with your child/children before they make their selection.
