Biblical Studies

Biblical Studies

Biblical Studies consists of one 45min lesson per week. However, Christian themes run throughout our curriculum.

  • ‘Peacemakers’ (Years 7-8)

  • ‘Be Attitudes’ (Year 6)

  • ‘GodSpace’ (Year 5)

Jesus says "You’re blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That’s when you discover who you really are, and your place in God’s family. Matthew 5:9(MSG).

The Bible tells us that conflict is unavoidable, Jesus reminds us that "in the world you will have trouble, but take heart I have overcome the world (John 16:33). It is how conflict is managed that is important. In the Middle school a peacemaker approach modelled by Jesus, is central to how we manage and unpack issues to a positive outcome. This focuses upon 4 basic principles:

- God: in all things, including this conflict, God should be honoured.

- Log: get the log out of your own eye before you seek to remove the speck from your brother's.

- Restore: seek to restore your own and the other parties relationship with God.

- Reconcile: be reconciled and restore the relationship with the other party.

By modelling this behaviour in all our relationships, we seek to show, train and mentor the students to a Biblical way of living and dealing with the opportunities that conflict provides as opposed to the worldly outcomes of damaged relationships and the carnage it can produce.
