Year 10 Service Learning
Last Friday Year 10 students shone as they presented their service learning team work to family, staff and students. They have spent three weeks exploring issues that affect our youth and our community.
The culmination of this saw each group set up a stall with information, stunning blackout poetry, goods they made to sell, and a BBQ lunch, as well as a car wash. The money raised will go towards their chosen causes. After lunch they moved into the Auditorium and the parents were able to watch the documentaries they have worked on over the last three weeks.
It will be exciting to see how much each group raised! All funds raised will be donated to the causes your students have been researching and working on this past three weeks.
Below is what one parent emailed in:
‘My daughter has greatly enjoyed the project and it has been great to see her so engaged in learning.
I have also seen the enthusiasm of other students in the gathering of information and resources. They were so proud to be raising money today for causes that they have come to care about
I thank you for providing this project that encompasses everything PCS promotes and gets students thinking outside of themselves.’
We would like to express our sincere thanks to our community partners who assist us every year by enabling our students to come and learn with them for a day:
Andrew Paech – WestCare Community Services
David Collins – Christ Mission Possible
Jennifer Philps – Childrens Medical Research Institute
Jessica Mathers – Animal Welfare League NSW at Kemps Creek Animal Shelter
Shelley Barlin – The Children’s Hospital Westmead
Our Senior School Staff could not have been more proud of this Year group and what they have achieved in three short weeks. Their heart for others and to serve our community is a blessing to our school.
