Winner of the 1-Minute Film Competition - Upper Secondary (Years 10–12)

Callum Meney, Year 11 student at PCS, recently won the 1-Minute Film Competition (Upper Secondary category)! The 1-Minute Film Competition is an initiative of ATOM and ClickView. It provides Australian and New Zealand students with the opportunity to make a 60-second short film or animation, and win fantastic prizes in the process.

 

Callum was asked:

  • Who is ATOM? The Australian Teachers of Media Short Film

  • What was the theme for the competition? 'Tomorrow'

  • What was the title of your film? 'We are the future'

  • Were you surprised at being shortlisted? Yes. There were submissions from all over Australia and New Zealand. I was stoked to be shortlisted against five others.

  • Where was the Presentation held? In Melbourne on 25 October. I flew down with my brother.

  • What was the outcome? 'We are the future' won the Judges' and the Peoples' Choice awards.

  • Did you get a prize? Yes. There was a $500 prize. It was presented as a massive cheque.

  • What was the experience like? Awesome. It gave me the chance to meet people from the industry that I want to work in after school.

 

Here is the synopsis of Callum's winning video:

'We are the future is a short film about today’s young generation, we live in a world where there is more speculation than ever about how the kids of today will lead society tomorrow. Instead, my film highlights the way our generation will make the world a better place.'
