Resourceful Adolescent Program (RAP) for Year 7

In Term 2 during Personal Learning Lab, Year 7 students will be completing the Resourceful Adolescent Program (RAP). RAP was developed by the Queensland University of Technology. It was developed in 1996 and has been delivered in over 3000 Australian schools and community settings. It has also been translated into a number of languages and used around the world. There is research that backs the effectiveness of the program.

The Program will be run once a week for the duration of Term 2. The aim is to build resilience and promote positive mental health in the students. The program aims to specifically prevent depression and related difficulties. Topics covered include:

  • the recognition and affirmation of existing strengths and resources

  • promoting self-management and self-regulation skills in the face of stress

  • cognitive restructuring

  • creating a personal problem solving model

  • building and accessing psychological support networks

  • considering the other's perspective
