‘It’s a Small World’ in Year 2 Literacy
Year 2 have launched into a wonderful and amazing Term 3 program. One of our most favourite subjects is Literacy! This term we have a global focus called, ‘It’s a Small World’. Through a variety of shared reading, writing, speaking and listening activities, we are developing in our understandings of our own identity and those from other cultures!
We are exploring the rich traditions and texts from Asia, China, India, Nepal, Cambodia, Korea, and many others. We have enjoyed some beautiful stories and you can look them up for an online reading. Some of our favourites include:
Same Same but Different by Jenny Sue
Wabi Sabi by Mark Reibstein & Ed Young
Monsoon Afternoon by Kashmira Sheth
Tikki Tikki Tembo by Arlene Mosel
Dear Jono by Souvna Pak
Bee-Bim Bop! By Linda Sue Park
This has been such a wonderful learning opportunity that we have been able to link to all aspects of our English program.
We have made cheese sandwiches as part of our procedure writing, and we have linked all our Term 3 Art to add to this learning experience. Check out some of our fabulous works of Art, and photos from our exact challenge of: ‘How to make a cheese sandwich’.
Learning is always so fun in Year 2!
