iCentres Closed - 2 April
Greetings from the iCentre staff of Penrith Christian School. We hope your family is navigating these unusual times as well as possible.
We understand you may have concerns about your child’s reading, and many of you are wondering about library borrowing and home readers.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, both PCS iCentres are now closed for individual borrowing, apart from Years 7-12 students who require textbooks.
ACCESS TO BOOKS:
Our greatest wish is for everyone to still be able to access books. From next term, as long as isolation rules allow, you will be able to email a request for a bag of books, which will be collated for you by the iCentre staff and left at School Reception for you to collect.
Home readers are not able to be swapped until School returns to normal. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.
Information about home reader alternatives will also feature in the next e-PhoCuS.
We understand you may be concerned about your child’s reading development. There are many e-book platforms available on the web, as well as from public libraries, providing a great alternative to physical books.
Why not use this time to read to your child more than you usually would, picture books or chapter books. Research shows that reading to your child is just as valuable to their reading development as them actually reading.
Along with you, we look forward to our students coming back to School, our libraries being re-opened and life returning to normal.
Yours in Christ
