Book Day 2020: what a great day!!

Once again our PCS Book Day was a raging success. Despite the restrictions imposed upon us through COVID, the staff and students all embraced the day to make it a truly memorable and wonderful event.

Our world famous Book Character Parade still took place, albeit without the live audience that has always guaranteed an amazing atmosphere. Thanks to the talented Audio Visual staff, video footage of the awesome costumes making their way across the stage will become available soon.

The restrictions saw that we were unable to continue with our tradition of inviting authors in to speak to the students. However, the quality of the work produced by some of our students in their Book Day writing activities suggests to us that there may some budding authors within our midst. We look forward to the possibility of adding some books authored by ex-PCS students to our collection one day.

The appeal of Book Day seeped its way into new corners of the PCS community this year. New for 2020 and beyond, was the introduction of the Mystery Guest Storytellers. Comprising mainly of non-teaching staff, these wonderful characters dressed up as characters and brought book characters to life for the enchantment of the unsuspecting classes that they just ‘happened upon’. They were fantastic and the delight of the students was evident for all to see.

Book Day is our favourite day of the year, and this year was no different. The preparation involved is always greatly rewarded by the staff and students. Thank you to the staff and students for a wonderful day. A particular thank you to Stephen Benbrook, our photography teacher, for taking the fantastic photos you can view below.
