Term 2 School Operations

As you know, this week there have been further announcements and advice about the delivery of education both at a Commonwealth and State level moving into Term 2.

We appreciate the complexity of this situation and for you, as parents, the need for clarity as you plan what your days may look like too.

As I mentioned in my video message last Sunday, we are looking forward to the time when we can all safely connect physically again and have all our wonderful students back onsite. In the meantime; however, we have heeded the advice of the Premier and Minister for Education, along with the Health Authorities, and have come up with a plan of what we see Term 2 looking like at this moment.

Term 2 (starting on Monday, 27 April) will begin as it finished in Term 1. The majority of students will be learning from home.

PCS will be open and operational for students who need to attend where there is no other option of safe supervision at home. As per the current health advice, where practical, parents are encouraged to keep their children at home.

Teachers have planned the same remote/online learning for students at School and at home. Students at School will be supervised and will be placed in learning environments where we can attempt to practise social distancing. Break times in the Junior School will be staggered.

The Premier and Minister for Education have announced a phased operating model for NSW State schools during COVID-19.

We have made the decision to adhere to this model as well, with the following Year groups ONLY being reintroduced to some face-to-face learning onsite starting from Week 3:

  • Kindergarten

  • Year 1

  • Year 12

More information on the new model and operational changes will be provided to parents and students before Week 3 begins to let you know the plan for the remainder of the term.

The plan for reintroducing further groups of students to onsite learning will be communicated in Week 3, after an assessment can be made following any further announcements from relevant agencies and the Government.

Please Note: ALL access for staff and students will be via School Reception until further notice.

During the holiday break, the School was subject to a deep environmental clean. The extra cleaning measures that were put in place during Term 1 will continue. This involves extra cleaning of desks, railings, surfaces, door handles and bathrooms many times a day.

Students will be reminded to wash their hands regularly and are permitted to bring hand sanitiser from home.

In addition to this, the School has committed to taking the temperature of all staff members and students before coming onsite each morning.

This will be via a no-touch forehead thermometer. If the temperature is higher than normal, the student will be placed in isolation and you will be asked to collect them immediately.

A reminder that any staff member or student who is unwell, should remain at home.

  • Please Note: Frogmore Road is currently closed due to roadworks.

This closure will remain in place until 31 May. Access to the School will be via the detour from Bringelly Road, or via Wentworth Road, and Kingswood Road to access Frogmore Road and then Simeon Road.

  • The School will be operating a mini bus only for our Blue Mountains and Jordan Springs runs during the first two weeks of term.

  • Public buses will resume normal services on Monday, 27 April.

  • Students arriving by bus will be directed along the normal bus entry path towards School Reception for a temperature check before entering the School grounds.

  • Term 1 arrangements for Kiss and Drop, and Express Pick-up will remain in place.

  • As per Term 1, no parents will be permitted onsite.

  • All Term 2 events have been cancelled until further notice.

  • Further information about the Year 12 Report Information Evening will be communicated as soon as possible.

Camp Australia will resume Out Of School Hours Care from Monday, 27 April.

Normal trading hours will resume on Tuesday, 28 April (7.30 am - 11.30 am)

Until further notice, canteen facilities are not available.

Any Term 2 arrangements are subject to updated advice from the Government or Health Authorities and relevant changes will be communicated as they come to hand.

We thank you all for your patience and support as we continue to navigate in providing our community with quality education and care, and ask that you pray into this world crisis, as our God is the divine healer and has a plan and purpose for our lives.

Yours in Christ
