From the PCS Board Chairman: 31 March 2020
Dear PCS Parents, Caregivers, School Family and Friends,
I thought it timely to be in contact with you as we live and move through one of the most difficult and challenging times in our country’s history and needless to say, the history of the world. We are all seeing and hearing the news reporting and experiencing the reality of constant changing implications caused by the COVID-19 virus spread. Not only is the impact severe on our daily lives, our families, loved ones and our communities, but also on the continuing education of our children. For some families this has meant facing severe financial difficulties from either loss of jobs, stand down, irregular and/or reduced work.
I am aware the impact differs for each family, and this means all household expenses are reviewed, including School fees.
Penrith Christian School currently grants concessions to families facing financial difficulties based on a budgeted amount that the School can afford each year. I need anyone in financial difficulty, which may affect your ability to pay School fees, if you haven’t already contacted the School, to contact the PCS Bursar. Please make contact as soon as you realise you may need help and we will do all we can to work with you and assist you, and hopefully lessen the burden.
PCS SCHOLARSHIP FUND:
During this most difficult time, it is the Board’s intention to assist families in whatever way we can to keep every student in the School. One way is through the PCS Scholarship Fund which is a registered Donated Gift Recipient (DGR) meaning that every donation over $2 is tax deductible. I understand most families are not in a position to give to the Fund; however, if you can give, I encourage our School community to continue to support one another in a very direct way by contributing to the Scholarship Fund. You may have family members or friends who would be interested in supporting PCS by donating to the Scholarship Fund and being part of the effort to keep children from struggling families in the School. Every donation, whether it is small or large, will greatly assist.
If you feel led and have the capacity, or know someone who would like to contribute, please contact the Accounts Department on 02 4737 4300 or email@example.com.
Finally, I continue to pray for PCS, the Staff led by Mrs Deal, the students and every parent. This is a very trying time for all.
When I first began my involvement with the School in the early 1980s, the message I received from the Lord was ‘I want you to be totally dependent on me for everything in the School’. I am not sure I fully understood what that meant, but at this time I have moved to a new dimension of dependence on our God.
We are standing together and we will continue to be strong and will come through the incredible challenges of COVID-19. Be strong in your faith and take courage for Psalm 91:1-2 states:
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord;
he is their stronghold in time of trouble.
God Bless you
