Key Learning Areas

The NSW Board of Studies (BoS) calls the broad areas which are required to be studied ‘Key Learning Areas’. These are:

 

ENGLISH*

• Speaking and Listening

• Reading

• Writing (Text types, Grammar, Spelling, Handwriting & technology

 

MATHEMATICS*

• Number and Algebra

• Geometry

• Measurement

• Chance and Data

• Problem solving

 

SCIENCE**

 

HUMAN SOCIETY & ITS ENVIRONMENT (HSIE)

 

CREATIVE ARTS

• Visual Art

• Music

• Drama & Dance

 

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT, HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION (PDHPE)

• Physical Education

• Personal Development

• Health

• Sport

 

The Outcomes for each of these is taught as per the syllabus documents which can be viewed on the BoS website. All content is taught from a Christian perspective; using a Biblical world view to interpret the world and relationships.
